Date: January 2005 Covering the Bases in Specialty SleepAfter developing a line of all-natural latex foam beds, Land and Sky has brought flotation sleep systems back to their product line, allowing the company to cover all the bases of specialty sleep: air, water, and foam. "Specialty sleep products, while a small percentage of the total market, is a rapidly growing segment," says co-president Ron Larson. "We are excited to be back in the waterbed business because it completes us as a partner who can provide service in every major specialty sleep category." Land and Sky started building waterbeds more than thirty years ago, and flotation continues to be a viable sleep system. The waterbed naturally delivers many benefits found in other specialty sleep systems—air is personally adjustable and can conform to individual sleep partners, and latex is great for reducing pressure points, but water can do these things and more without the tweaking required with other systems. Demonstrating its commitment to flotation sleep, Land and Sky has recently introduced the Lifespring, a softside waterbed featuring a premium removable Eurotop with natural latex, to its extensive line of waterbeds. "We know that flotation sleep has many benefits," says Larson. "But the market has definitely moved toward products that are more convenient to own." Customers today are still looking for all the quality of sleep benefits that water can bring, but in a more durable, convenient, and modern form. For this reason Land and Sky has built on its existing flotation sleep knowledge and introduced a line of natural latex, memory foam, and air mattresses. Land and Sky began manufacturing airbeds five years ago in Lincoln, Nebraska, and is staying ahead of the curve by passing the new California fire retardant standards with flying colors, even with difficult design elements such as pleated pillow-tops and zippers. A feature that makes Land and Sky airbeds unique is a Smart Pump that adjusts to air pressure inside the bed chamber, creating a personalized sleep experience. The handheld controls include prestigious features usually reserved for beds that cost twice as much, such as a favorites button and a "quick-fill" option. Foam beds, Land and Sky's latest venture in quality sleep, have been among the easiest specialty beds to own and care for. They also deliver quality sleep while maintaining proper posture alignment—Land and Sky mattresses are layered for correct posture, and many provide mid-body support for the heaviest parts of the body. Land and Sky led the charge back to nature with a line of all-natural latex beds, and last year Land and Sky introduced a line of Convergence beds that combine all-natural latex with viscoelastic memoryfoam. Land and Sky is very pleased to be back to servicing all areas of specialty sleep—water, air and foam—and is continuing to introduce new promotional tools and products for its partners to help promote specialty sleep. With such a wide range of options available, Land and Sky becomes a "one-stop shop" for specialty sleep.
